Boracay Tourism

Over 400,000 local and international tourists flock to Boracay every year. A recorded 76,257 visitors have gone to the island in the month of APRIL 2004 alone. Philippine tourism is expected to receive a boost from the recent Tsunami disasters in Asia.

Tourists from China

14 day “VISA-UPON-ARRIVAL” seen to boost Chinese visitors to the Philippines. Studies by DOT show that Chinese tourists were partial to beaches, eco-tourism, sight-seeing and shopping. Active marketing to China and direct flights to KALIBO will increase rate of Chinese visitors to Boracay. More planes with larger 40-seater capacities are planning flights to Caticlan. On the 2nd quarter of 2004, the KALIBO AIRPORT started accepting international chartered flights from overseas emanating from Korea and Taiwan.

New Developments in Boracay, Philippines

At present, there are only 224 resorts with about 3,004 rooms in the island (but only 1,500 are DOTC accredited). Boracay Island is experiencing a constant & growing need for more comfortable places for tourists and vacationing families.
